Question '57 265 - Anybody esle have one?

Wish I had a picture of my cousin's 1957 Chev 150 2 door post. It is 100% stock from factory except for the dual exhausts. It's black with the dog dish hub caps and blackwalls. His car has a 265 V8 from the factory. Most people we have talked to - even diehard Chev fans _ will insist no '57 was sold new with the 265. It also has the 3 on the tree with overdrive. Has anyone else ever seen or heard of such an animal? I do believe that if it is indeed original that it may be kind of rare. Would the VIN# have any information on it in regards to the engine the car has? We would love any info anyone may have. According to what info we could find on the Internet, his engine has all of the correct specs for a 265 but not a 283.

57 Chevys came with both 265 and 283 the 265 had 8.0 to 1 compression and the 283 had 8.5 to one. They had the 6 cylinder too.

My brother had a 57 BelAir with a stick and 265 in 1963. The engine was a greenish yellowish color and not orange like the 283.
